Cafe Church
This has been running since October 2008.We meet in the assembly room adjoining the church on the first Saturday in each month at 7.00pm and finishing at around 8.00 pm. Finishing time is approximate because sometimes people are engrossed in conversation , but there is freedom to come and go as you please.
We drink coffee and tea , and enjoy biscuits and cake ( we have some very good bakers ). And we talk to each other ,without pressure , in a friendly atmosphere where we can share our concerns on a variety of subjects and see what God would have us do. Recently we have discussed assisted suicide and binge drinking for example . Serious stuff but we do embrace the lighter side of life too.
So that’s what we do. Someone may pray, or read a relevant Bible passage, and we listen. To God and each other. Questions are always welcome especially if they spark a worthwhile discussion.
Ah, but who’s it for? If you’re reading this your question is answered. You’re all welcome.
PS It’s all free folks!
Junior Youth Club

The Junior Youth Club
Meeting Lane Junior Youth Club meets each school term-time Friday from 4.00pm to 5.30pm. It meets in the John Yeomans Hall (opposite the Church) in Meeting Lane. It offers youngsters an opportunity to ‘chill out’ after a week of school. Activities include playing on the ever popular pool tables, table tennis, table football, air-hockey as well as various games and crafts. There is usually a short time when we do a group activity, which could involve a game, a discussion or an illustrated talk. This group is freely open to all those who have not started secondary school yet.

people about to 'clean up' the table.

We meet about once a month in the John Yeomans Hall for one hour at 6.45pm on a Friday (generally the 3rd Friday of the month, but it does vary). We usually have a gathering of between 6 to 10 under 14 year olds (minimum age is 7 years old) and the usual format for the hour is:
-
Warm-up
-
3 a-side with all team members having to have touched the ball before a goal can be scored
-
2 a-side, first goal wins, rapid team changes
-
Penalty shoot out
Our key aim is to get the players passing the ball on the ground and shooting accurately. We are insistent that the games are played fairly and fouls are penalised. The games are frantic and fun, so please come and join us - boys and girls welcome. We even have half-time drinks!

Young ones - Sundays
|
|
The Young Ones meet every Sunday morning at 10.45am in the fellowship room of the John Yeomans Hall and is designed for teenagers. The sessions are around ¾ of an hour. We study a different passage from the bible each week. We then look at the meaning of the passage, we also consider how best to show what we have learnt by way of art, song, pray or action.
The teenagers also come along to the youth club and are active members of church life and have offered their free time to raising money for projects to help those less fortunate than themselves.

Burton Baptist Table Tennis Club |
|
The club began it’s life in May 2003, following a decision by Derek Muggleton and Steve Smith (two newly qualified ETTA level 2 coaches) to give something back to the Kettering TT league. Derek had over 30 years playing experience in Coventry and Kettering and Steve around 4 years in Kettering.
The club began with around 5 or 6 members turning up each Monday for a couple of hours practice and training. After only a few weeks numbers had doubled and several players expressed a wish to play in the Kettering league division 3 at the beginning of the next season. Over the following years number grew and league teams have grown from 1 to 6, the club is now represented in each of the 4 Kettering leagues.
In March we will be holding a sponsored event to raise funds for Cransley Hospice. (after the Pantomime) Starting at 9.00am and finishing at 9.00pm we will be playing against each other and the ROBOT for 12 hours. Last year we were able to raise £750. If you would like to know more give me a ring 078901 38369
Currently we have 16-18 players coming each Monday practising on up to 4 tables in the John Yeomans Hall. League games usually take place at home on Wednesdays. The age range covered is 10 – 85, and we cater for all playing levels from beginners top premier league standard.
STOP PRESS ..... We now have an Over 50's Club each Monday beginning at 2.00pm - if you would like to come, give me a ring on 07890138369 A couple of hours to enjoy a friendly game and to catch up with old friends
If you would like to know more, Derek can help – send him a message to dmuggleton@aol.com

The Womens Own
|
|
THE WOMEN'S OWN meeting is held weekly for most of the year on Tuesday afternoons at 2.30pm in the Baptist Church's Assembly Room, specifically as a Christian devotional meeting for ladies who are free to attend an afternoon event.
2009 saw its 76th anniversary as it was inaugurated in 1933 by women who realised a need for such an oasis of spiritual, reflective and inspirational input midweek, rather than meeting only on Sundays.
Through the years its ethos has remained the same though modern life has brought changes. For instance, it is now perceived as a meeting for pensioners, as younger women have a greater need to work for financial reasons, or to further a worthwhile career. The Committee of the meeting, however, will always welcome new-comers to boost our numbers and to share the blessings that the meeting has been to so many women throughout its history.

Mother and Toddler Group
|
|
Meeting Lane Mother and Toddler Group (The Baptist Church serving the community) The group meets in the John Yeoman’s Hall (in the New Hall opposite the church) each Thursday during term time from 9.15am until 2.30pm and is open to all who have care of pre-school children. Stay for whatever time suits you within the time scale. Snack lunches, at very reasonable prices, are available between 12 noon and 1.00pm but orders must be placed by noon. Coffee, tea, soft drinks and biscuits are on sale throughout the day. Membership, which lasts for a school year is only 50p and there is a charge of 50p per adult for each attended session. There are a number of helpers around during the session but carers are responsible for their own children and therefore numbers are not restricted. Facilities include play mats and toys for babies, “Little Tike” slide, play tunnels and seesaw. We also have many sit 'n ride toys, push- along toys, books, puzzles, Duplo Lego, Foam Building shapes and play dough. We have baby walkers and baby chairs available and also high chairs for use at lunch- time. Mother & Toddler groups give mothers/carers an opportunity to meet and make new friends and for the children to learn to mix and share. The leaders are always ready to talk things over and provide a listening ear. We do not know all the answers but as members of the Baptist Church in Burton Latimer, we are always willing to help whenever we can.
For further information please contact either: Mrs. Pat Muggleton, 92, Churchill Way, Burton Latimer. ( 01536 722328) or Mrs. Jennifer Hunt, 62, Beaufort Drive, Barton Seagrave. ( 01536 725395)

Senior Youth Club
|
|
The Meeting Lane Senior Youth Club continues to meet in the same space as the Junior Youth club, from 7.30pm to 9.00pm. At the moment this club is essentially a ‘church youth friendship group’, with the occasional visits of friends. As well as games and outings, such as a visit to the Northampton Youth Club Centre late last year for a sports evening, there is a time of Christian reflection and teaching. Both the junior and senior clubs are run according to the church’s ‘Safe to Grow’ policy and they are only supervised by suitable people who have been thoroughly vetted.
