Junior Church Appeal
Over the past few years the Junior Church has received tremendous support for all its appeals for which we are extremely grateful.
Our latest appeal was launched on Sunday 10th June 2009 for "Children United"
"Children United" is a charity that works with a congregartion of Sisters in India. They help them to build and run schools, orphanages, children's hostels, creches, and a women's refuge. All fundraising is by volunteers who pay their own expenses; there are no wages or administration costs, therefore, every penny raised goes to the children.
Mrs. Julie Foster from "Children United" outlined the work of the charity and showed a DVD which gave us a brief insight into some of the projects it has been involved in.
We have decided that the project we will be involved with is to build and equip a school classroom at Ritapuram School in India. We shall also be helping the local economy as the classroom will be built using local builders while the desks and chairs will be made using local carpenters.
A number of events have already taken place this year, a Strawberry Cream Tea, a BBQ, a Coffee Cake and Car Wash and the latest a Pancake Evening which raised £152. These events together with donations have raised so far over £2000.
Please pray for the children at Ritapuram School and for the Junior Church as it seeks to make a real difference to the lives of the children.
